Joni’s journey began in Greenville, but her upbringing was marked by frequent moves due to her marine father’s career. In 1966, her family finally settled in Beaufort, where Joni felt an immediate connection to the marshy pluff mud. For 52 years, Beaufort has been her home, a place she shares with her husband, Jodie. Together, they raised two sons and now delight in spoiling their six grandchildren. Joni finds peace in two contrasting landscapes: the sandy shores of Hunting Island State Park and the rugged peaks of Table Rock State Park.

From an early age, Joni harbored a dream of making people smile, envisioning a career in dentistry. With determination and hard work, she turned this dream into reality. She devoted 35 years to orthodontic care, followed by another 13 years in general dentistry. Throughout her career, Joni held a firm belief that a smile is more than just an expression—it’s the most potent form of medicine she can offer. This belief guided her professional life, allowing her to touch and improve countless lives.

Joni’s dedication to her profession and her community is evident in her long-lasting relationships with her patients and colleagues. She has become a beloved figure in Beaufort, known not only for her professional skills but also for her genuine care and compassion. Her work in dentistry has been a testament to her commitment to enhancing the well-being of those around her. In her personal life, Joni enjoys exploring the natural beauty of South Carolina, whether it’s a stroll on the beach or a hike in the mountains.
