GENERAL DENTISTRY
The best way to keep your smile healthy and beautiful is to prevent problems before they begin. Beaufort Smiles offers a variety of comprehensive dental care services designed to keep your teeth working well and feeling fantastic.
Comprehensive Dental Care Services include:
-
Comprehensive Exams-
By identifying cavities, gum disease, infection, or irritation in the early stages, you can prevent a small issue from becoming larger dental problems. Book an appointment today to stop a problem from developing tomorrow.
-
Oral Cancer Screenings-
Detecting abnormalities or potential complications at an early stage allows you to pursue the most effective treatment options. At Beaufort Smiles, we use a combination of visual and manual screening techniques, to check your mouth for signs of cancer or precancerous lesions.
-
X-rays-
Computer monitors in exam rooms make it easy for us to discuss the results of the examination with you. X-rays show cavities between teeth. They also show how deep the decay is.
-
Hygiene-
We use Cavitron scalers to remove plaque and tartar, freeing your mouth from problematic trapped bacteria. You’ll leave our office feeling fresh and clean!
-
Periodontal Therapy-
That’s why we take great care to keep your gums in optimum health, providing deep cleaning and periodontal therapy right here in our office.
-
Fluoride Treatments-
Fluoride is an element that occurs in nature, and is often added to products like toothpaste or mouthwash. In most areas, there’s even fluoride in water supplies. That’s because it has been well proven to help prevent cavities and tooth decay, and it keeps your teeth strong. That’s important to overall oral health – and we’re not just talking about kids!
-
Sealants-
Some teeth have deep grooves which can be very difficult to clean and are one of the easiest places to grow decay. Sealants help protect the back molars from bacteria, decay, and cavities. First, the tooth-colored sealant material is "painted" on the molar, and then dried in place with a hand-held light. The procedure is quick and painless.
RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY
Your oral health can affect your overall well-being, diet, heart health, and a number of other conditions. That's why Restorative Dentistry is essential in combating tooth decay, broken teeth, infections, cavities, and other problems in your mouth.
Restorative Dental Care Services include:
-
Fillings-
Modern advances in dental materials enable patients who have teeth that are decayed, damaged, or worn to be repaired with tooth-colored fillings. That’s why, when cavities show up, Dr. Gustafson and our team use composite fillings to repair the affected teeth. We will begin by cleaning out your cavity. Then, we’ll fill the area with composite material to support tooth structure. These enamel-colored fillings blend into your natural tooth, giving you protection, no one will ever notice!
-
Crowns & Bridges-
In situations involving areas of large decay, cracks, and broken teeth, a crown may be used to restore dental function and appearance. A crown essentially caps your existing tooth to achieve an ideal shape and color. When one or more teeth need to be replaced, a bridge can be used to fill the gaps. In this treatment, crowns are placed on either side of the gap to serve as anchors, with one or more replacement teeth bridged between them. The material we use for these restorations varies depending on your situation, but in most cases, discreet metal-free options are available.
-
Implants-
Dental implants are made of titanium, and are surgically-placed in the jaw bone for ultimate sturdiness. If you have missing or severely damaged teeth, a dental implant can be one of the most effective ways to achieve the smile of your dreams – and luckily, this procedure also provides one of the most long-lasting dental care solutions available. Implants serve as a long-term, durable method of tooth replacement. By replacing one or more of your weak, decayed or broken teeth with an implant, your dentist can save your mouth from further damage and lost functionality. Keeping you healthy is our top priority.
-
Partials & Dentures-
Missing teeth can lead to problems chewing and biting, putting your overall health at risk. Partial dentures are custom-fitted devices used to replace several missing teeth. When an entire mouthful of teeth must be replaced, full dentures are an appropriate treatment. If there is enough jaw bone remaining intact, implant-retained dentures are also an option. This restorative treatment involves placing implants into the bone structure below the gums. Your dentist will then create dentures that attach to these implants, creating a more stable replacement. No matter the treatment option you and your dentist choose, these “false teeth” will have you talking, eating, and feeling like yourself again in no time.
-
Endodontics-
When a tooth experiences nerve damage, often from trauma or severe infection, a root canal may be necessary to restore it and prevent further tooth pain. Root canal therapy allows us to clean out the infected or damaged nerve. Then, we use a special material to fill the nerve chamber, preventing further infection.
